Teen Church and Children’s Church News
Youth of Unity and Uniteen NewsÂ

As we welcome new Uniteens and Y.O.U.’s to our programs we are all looking forward to the new school year. We’ll be working with some new curriculum including one that will follow along with the Spiritual Renewal Program based on Dr. Wayne Dyer’s book The Power of Intention that starts October 14th. This will enable the kids to have discussions at home with the family and develop a personal sense of their spiritual development. While communication with our kids can become somewhat challenging during these teen years, we hope this will help develop a common ground to open up talks and help the kids see how valuable their ideas and opinions are to the world.
We have several new possible sponsors for both groups. I have invited them to sit in on some Sunday classes to see if this would be a good fit for them as well as the kids. If any one is interested in considering being a sponsor for any age group, please seek me out at church or feel free to email: mruhl10@comcast.net or call me 272.2819. Most sponsors discover how transformational and rewarding teaching a youth group can be and it only requires a one Sunday a month commitment.
We will be resuming Sunday bake sales on the Ramada between services on September 2nd. As we start a new year we have 8 events to raise money for and all contributions are greatly appreciated. Among the fund raisers we will be having during the year are the family portraits, Christmas Cards, a car wash and a breakfast. We will be setting dates soon for all of these events.
This year we will plan some events out in the community as well as a school-wide service project at Unity. The kids really enjoy time together outside of Sunday School and parents get a chance to meet each other and develop new friends as well. Whether you are a parent or someone who enjoys supporting young people as they begin to approach adulthood, your participation and support is always welcomed and appreciated.
Children’s Church News
by Janet Wilson
As the new Director of the Children’s Church, I’d like to share a little information about myself and my philosophy regarding youth education. I have a degree in education and 25 years experience as a Montessori teacher and administrator. Prior to assuming the role of Director, I taught Sunday School for 5 years at Unity. I am delighted to be working with children and parents in this new capacity.
When children come into Unity and experience one of our classes, it is important that we provide a welcoming and warm environment. Our program is educational, fun and exciting, so children want to return.
Please consider participating as a teacher or assistant in our youth education program. For 1 hour of your time a month, you can have a positive, far reaching impact on a child’s life. Lesson plans with clear, easy instructions are provided. We will help with any questions or needs you may have and offer good support. You can choose to work with children from Pre-K through high school.
Please feel free to contact me, Janet Wilson, with any questions or suggestions at 749.9009.
