Beginnings

At the beginning of a new cycle… probably arbitrary at best, but probably most things in our lives would also be so classified…it has been a tradition within many lives to use the beginning of a calendar year to reflect on what has transpired—in this instance within 2007—as well as to then project one’s dreams and plans into the new cycle now called 2008. And, it doesn’t seem that long ago, does it, when we celebrated the rather benign departure from 1999 and the entrance into 2000.

As I interact with people I discover that we are almost always our…what’s it called…our own worst enemy. We beat ourselves up and rake ourselves over the coals of the memories of moments and experiences that we classify as inappropriate or inept, yet unless one is a career jerk probably everyone who witnessed these moments were more understanding of our temporary departure than we from who we really are. So perhaps our real challenge is embarrassment rather than condemnation, and embarrassment while… well, embarrassing…isn’t comfortable, it usually doesn’t carry with it a societal rejection.
I don’t know of anyone who wouldn’t want to re-do something, be it an action, comment or a vote at the ballot box, but the world is still turning and those of us who occasionally experience our own foot-in-mouth moments are almost always quick to be understanding of others. Then there is the reminder within the Abraham sharings as we are told
we can’t ever get it wrong because we never get it done…we are eternal! They usually add the caveat,
lighten up, life is supposed to be fun!

However, life can’t be all that fun if moments that can never be changed are continually reactivated within our ever present now, so if we are in any measure stirring around in those past moments then this is the energy we are activating and bringing into the now. Why? This is an energy based universe and the majority of how we “speak” to the Universe is through emotional context, therefore whenever we bring a past occurrence that is loaded with emotions such as embarrassment…even shame, anger, hatred or guilt…into the now it reaches out and brings into our experience things that have a similar vibrational signature. Why?

Apparently in the Universe there is simply woven into the fabric of all things and dimensions what can be called a Law of Attraction. Using an example of a radio broadcast, if shame, guilt or embarrassment, or the collective of all three, is tuned to a frequency of 640 am and we are reactivating that signal because of past happenings…and again presupposing that joy, abundance and similar is 98.7 on the fm dial, the 640 signal we are continuing to dig up, activate and radiate isn’t finding a frequency match to the 98.7, but instead to circumstances, personalities, events and moments that are in the same ballpark with shame, guilt and embarrassment, and probably none of it would be to our liking.

Do we do this? Probably! It is most likely a rare person who doesn’t have some aspect of this at work in their life…even someone in Unity or New Thought—oh my. The key is awareness and then different choices to be made. Do you stir around in the past and by so doing again feel the unhappy emotions you originally felt? If so, some describe themselves as being stuck in a never-ending cycle of things they don’t like. Undoubtedly the faces are different as well as the circumstances, but there is a weird feeling of déjà vu that lets one know that something, somehow is repeating. We actually are never stuck, but we can reactivating the instructions we fed into consciousness yesterday and bring its energy into the now of today. Life is ever new…we can never be stuck.
Isn’t it helpful to approach life with the understanding that this is a vibrationally based universe and accidents, chance or luck simply don’t exist? This understanding contains the path for the way out of stir-around-in-the-past-itis. First, it is the understanding that whenever we allow ourselves to do this…and especially when we enlist energy input from others who also revel in victimhood, for this is what it is…whenever we allow this it only proliferates the misery. Knowing this is a powerful tool for now as we catch ourselves in a replay mode to begin to break the cycle by hitting the pause button of that train of thought that almost always carries with it the original emotion be it embarrassment, anger, hatred, shame or guilt.

Then to begin a dialogue that talks us to a different point of understanding that in and of itself reaches for a slightly different emotion or feeling. “Yes, that perhaps was a pretty stupid thing for me to say (or do), but it isn’t my real character and the world didn’t stop turning, and I’ve never done that since.” Then, using this analogy, imagine that response being recorded over the old one and in that process almost always one begins to move up the emotional journey. Then along with this as we remind ourselves of the impossibility of our ever getting it wrong for we are eternally a work in process, and that we are extensions of Source Energy (God), our growing feelings of self-acceptance lead to moments when again we might remember the event that was once painful but to now have a completely different response, perhaps even an understanding smile as it no longer carries any unhappy energy with it.

We don’t have to wait for a new cycle or year to do this either. Some do out of tradition or masochistic tendencies and the perceived need to suffer longer. I believe the further we are along the path of awareness the quicker we defang these moments to eventually come to the beginning of a new cycle, be that cycle measured in 24 hour or 365 day increments, carrying with us absolutely nothing to regret, for these experiences were handled of not immediately, but pretty darn quick.

Now that the past has been placed in its proper perspective (it has, hasn’t it?), and in keeping with the theme of this time of year, what about 2008? As with any moment of newness, it will be totally accurate and faithful to the replication of the energy signature—our vibrational signature—that we present to life. In our frame of reference as we think about many things, we use the words fair or just concerning how we want to interface with people and life, even as we would expect the return from life toward us…we want to live in a life where fairness and justice are the hallmark. Such is also woven into the fabric of all life as well. Behind all effects, there is a cause; behind all things we experience from the gambit of what we like to what we never want to see again are present because of the law of consciousness, i.e., our life is our consciousness, or said another way, because of how things…all things…work, this working process has been given the further word-definition Law of Attraction which simply says like attracts like.

So, with the new cycle underway, and with “ghosts” of the past sent packing, giving purposeful thought to cleaning up our vibrational signature is the order of the day. Our present life and experience can be traced back to thought patterns held and then joined with their spontaneous emotional equivalents that became the tuning fork-like signature we offered to the Universe that was fairly, accurately and justly replicated through event, personality and or circumstance that now is who and what we are. So, cleaning up our vibrational signature is indeed the order of the new cycle.
How? Monitor feelings and emotional patterns, for they are the feedback that tell us where we are in the alignment of energies toward what we really want, not their opposite. So, finding an emotional moment that doesn’t feel great, trace it back to a thought you are holding be it for your own journey or another’s that is contrary to the Self that you in your greater non-physical reality know to be true. It means somewhere you are stirring around in, and quite possibly have for some time, a perception or observation that isn’t in alignment with your Higher Self. Stop it! Regardless of any seeming justification it isn’t worth it, for you entered into physicality for the only purpose of joy. If not joyful, then this should be a clue.

If it isn’t in your immediate job description to fix something, then remove focus from it. What might this include? The way another is living his life, the war on the other side of the world, the stock market fluctuations or flatulentations, the way another wants you to live your life…and the list goes on and on. Ferret them out and free yourself from all this responsibility that no one has asked you to take on. If you have something that doesn’t emotionally feel good, it is because you are out of alignment with your Higher self and are embracing as a truth something that does not become you.

Remember, you can never get it wrong because you can never get it done—you are eternal. Lighten up. Reach for anything that gives you relief in any moment of the journey; if it feels good…if it gives you empowerment, then it is.
