Helping New People Feel Welcome

Tom Kelley, Board President

In recent articles, I have been discussing some of the ideas for activities and events that people in the congregation have suggested. I appreciate all the input we have received at the information sharing session we held last July, as well as from those who responded to the November article by submitting a survey form. All your thoughts and ideas are a blessing to us.

One of the ideas that has received a lot of interest is to have “Getting to know you” events to help new people feel welcome / mentoring for new members / beginning Unity classes / designated visitor greeters / New Member Committee, and other suggestions along the idea of helping new people to feel welcome at Unity of Tucson. I wholeheartedly agree that this is a wonderful idea, and I would love to see it become a reality.

I would like to invite everyone who is interested in helping us co-create this activity to join me and Sheila Bowden in the Sanctuary at 10:15 am on Sunday, January 20th, 2008.  At this meeting, we will decide which visitor/new member activities and events we will work on first, then plan and schedule those activities, and finally match volunteers to specific roles. If you are unable to attend, but would like to participate, please contact me or Sheila before the meeting.

It doesn’t matter whether you have been attending Unity for many years, or if you are new to New Thought, this is an opportunity for you to help those who are experiencing Unity for the first time to feel welcome and to facilitate their spiritual journey toward embracing their Divine Nature.

Please join us and let YOUR light shine for others.
